Does music make the person?

I was thinking about this, whether the music we listen to determines how we act. Zeppelin fans have long hair and Led Zep t shirts. Punk fans grow a mo hawk and get piercings. People that listen to rap usually act ghetto. "Alternative" music makes you a pretentious D-bag. And usually people's friends listen to similar music.

I don't listen to one type of music. I love metal, but I love folk songs. I love rap and techno. I like "alternative" music and punk rock. I don't categorize myself under any kind of music. When people say "What kind of music do you listen to?" I say, "I don't know. I listen to everything." And people won't accept that as an answer. This could be why I get along so well with everyone and I feel like I can fit in anywhere.
